The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission said Friday it is awarding more than $5 million to a whistleblower whose information led to a successful enforcement action.

The agency said the whistleblower provided a tip and additional information that helped SEC staff shape its investigative strategy, identify witnesses and draft document and information requests.

It said the whistleblower also internally reported concerns before submitting information to the SEC.

The SEC does not disclose whistleblowers’ identity.

The SEC said in October it was awarding more than $10 million to a whistleblower who provided information and assistance that “significantly contributed” to a successful SEC enforcement action.
